DeVotchKa concert
A cross-pollination of numerous influences, including cabaret, spaghetti Westerns, norteño, punk, and the immigrant dance music of Eastern Europe, Colorado-based quartet DeVotchKa, formed in Denver by multi-instrumentalists Nick Urata (vocals, guitar, trumpet), Tom Hagerman (violin, accordion), Jeanie Schroder (sousaphone, bass) and percussionist Shawn King, emerged as unlikely indie heroes in the mid-2000s infusing modern indie music with a global flavor.
This performance is rescheduled from March to Aug. 24 at the Churchill Arts Center’s Barkley Theatre.
Tickets for the previous show will be honored for this event, which begins at 7 p.m. The box office, art bar and galleries open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $17 for members and $20 for nonmembers Youth and students with a valid student ID are $10.

Dishwalla
The platinum-selling, award-winning Rock band with a career spanning over 25 years and five critically acclaimed studio albums.
In 1994 Dishwalla signed to A&M Records and immediately began their successful launch into the music scene with a rendition of It’s Going to Take Some Time that was chosen as a single for The Carpenters tribute album, If I Were a Carpenter, a live performance on the Jon Stewart Show, and MTV coverage.
Nine Days
Nine Days is the latest band to enjoy commercial success, opt for a break, and then reform. The group, which was formed by singer-songwriter friends John Hampson and Brian Desveaux in 1994 in their native Long Island, struck a chord with fans and critics with the relentlessly catchy “Absolutely (Story of a Girl).” The memorable single, which takes Gen Xers back to another time and place, hit the top of the charts in 2000 and propelled the band’s major label debut, The Madding Crowd, to go gold.

Patrice Luciano
Nashville recorded singer/songwriter Patrice Luciano has played in many venues and local shows throughout the Sierras. She sang before an enthusiastic crowd at the 2023 Fallon Cantaloupe Festival.
Her soulful rocking country sound gets people on their feet and leaves them wanting to hear more.
Steve and Raena
Wandering Songs is husband and wife acoustic duo, Steve and Raena, hailing from the high desert of northern Nevada. They have been making music together since 2015, with both of them equally sharing duties as lead vocalists, songwriters, and guitarists. The couple first met in 2007 while playing in separate bands and their shared love for music brought them together.
Ward Davis
Ward Davis is an American singer-songwriter from Monticello, Arkansas. Davis has had songs recorded by many entertainers in the music business. In 2016, Davis co-wrote “I’m Not The Devil” with Cody Jinks, which went to No. 4 on the Billboard US Country Charts.
His major debut 2015 album, 15 Years in a 10 Year Town, featured Willie Nelson and Jamey Johnson.

Bluegrass festival
The Northern Nevada Bluegrass Association will host its 38th annual Bowers Bluegrass Festival from Friday, Aug. 23, to Sunday Aug. 25 in New Washoe City, according to a news release. The festival features 12 bands over the three days.
The festival includes bands Appalachian Road Show, AJ Lee & Blue Summit, Broken Compass Bluegrass, SLO County Stumblers, The High Water Line, Salty Sally, The Wildcat Mountain Ramblers, The Monday Night Volunteers, Sugarpine Bluegrass, High West Bluegrass, Front Porch, and the Nevada State Junior Fiddle Champion.
