Pedrini said the Red Cross could assist with shelter as the mobile home was severely damaged by smoke, though the fire was contained to the room of origin.

According to Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon, “a total of 20 Carson City firefighters responded to the fire and were assisted by Truckee Meadows and East Fork Fire Districts (one fire engine and one chief officer from both agencies) through automatic aid agreements. No firefighters were injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.”

Pedrini was proud of how first responders performed, making the rescue.

“They did phenomenal,” he said.

Carson City firefighters rescued two elderly citizens from a burning mobile home on Gold Leaf Lane near the Carson City Airport early Friday.

The Carson City Fire Department was dispatched to the incident at 5:17 a.m.

CCFD Battalion Chief Jon Pedrini was incident commander and said one person was trapped near the fire room and the other was trying to get out. Firefighters quickly entered the burning structure, located the victims and got them to safety. They were treated on scene as they had been “overwhelmed with smoke,” and transported to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, Pedrini said.

“The biggest concern is getting them taken care of at the hospital,” he said. “We’ll follow up later today, get an update and see additional needs.”
