The Greenwave soccer teams picked up their first wins of the season last weekend.

The girls team swept Battle Mountain and Pershing County at home while the boys went 1-4, with a win against Battle Mountain.

Both teams are home this weekend when they face White Pine on Friday and West Wendover on Saturday.

The girls defeated Pershing County, 13-0, on Friday before blanking Battle Mountain, 12-0, on Saturday.

In Friday’s win over the Mustangs, Karlie Simper completed the hat trick with goals at 6, 8 and 48 feet. Payton Oceguera and Yasmien Leceste each scored twice, while Jada Anastasio, Kylee Simper, Emerson Allyn, Jazelynn Kratz, Kortnie Simper and Ambreea Snodgrass each scored.

On Saturday, both Kortnie and Karlie Simper, and Leceste each scored three times. Oceguera recorded a pair of goals and Snodgrass had one. Leceste nailed all three from 41 feet or more from the goal.


BOYS SOCCER

The boys defeated the Longhorns, 14-0, on Thursday in Fallon to open the season before traveling to a two-day tournament in Elko County.

Fallon fell to Eldorado, 3-1, and Lowry, 1-0, on Friday. Fallon followed with a pair of close losses on Saturday to Spring Creek, 1-0, and Elko, 2-1.
