Letter: Antithesis of democracy

Open and jungle primaries are the antithesis of democracy. Open and jungle primaries disenfranchise party members by allowing outsiders to affect party preferences.

The parties have a right to choose their own candidates free from external influences and fraud. Voter rolls are notoriously inaccurate and out-of-date. Universal mail-in balloting, lax signature verification and weeks of early and late voting all facilitate fraud.

Every fraudulent vote deprives a citizen of their voice and weakens faith in the electoral process. Recent elections have been plagued with illegalities, irregularities, chain-of-custody disputes, computer glitches, tabulation errors and reporting delays.

Ranked-Choice Voting (RCV) will only exacerbate these issues. Confidence in the integrity of our election is crucial to a functioning democracy. Proper identification is key to preventing fraud and ensuring election integrity.

Demand voter identification, vote “NO” on question 3 and oppose all attempts to manipulate or dilute your vote.
