The third annual Roughy Top Gun Invitational bull riding event on New Year’s Eve will kick up the dirt at the Rafter 3C to ring in 2025.
This extreme event will also be broadcast on the Cowboy Channel. The doors open at 5 p.m., and the event will kick off at 8 p.m. There will be a patriotic opening ceremony, as the event will honor the U.S. military.
The Roughy Top Gun Invitational New Year’s Eve performance is a PRCA sanctioned, Division 1 extreme bulls event. That means the best bull riders in the world — the cowboys who competed at the National Finals Rodeo NFR — will be fighting for a world championship at the Fallon event. The invitational is bringing the best bulls from west of the Mississippi.
After the bull riding, a concert will follow. Party on the arena’s dirt as the Chad Bushell Band performs. Catch the pre-party on Dec. 30 at The Grid, 1120 Taylor Place. The pre-party will kick off at 6 p.m., and this is the place where the 35 competing bull riders will be divided into teams. There will be a Calcutta, and team captains will draft their teams during the pre-party. There will also be an auction benefiting Nevada Bighorns Unlimited. All ages are welcome.
“My goal is to bring the best bull riders in the world to Fallon so fans come watch their heroes,” said Chad Denton, producer of the Dec. 31 event. “I had a great career riding bulls taking me to the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) world finals three times and to the National Finals Rodeo once.”
Denton grew up in Round Mountain with aspirations of being a professional bull rider.
“I would go to the bucking ball in Reno on New Year’s Eve and watch my heroes compete,” he said.
