The Clear Creek Bowmen’s 3-D Archery Shoot this month landed a healthy target with its donation of $700 to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office’s Holiday with a Hero event.

President Leon Treants, who has been active in archery for 45 years, said 53 people turned out to shoot among 38 targets and enjoy lunch Dec. 1 while others stopped by to make donations for HWAH.

“It’s just a lot of fun,” Treants said. “We’re giving back to the community and to the kids.”

The Clear Creek Bowmen’s organization offers summer programs for children and adults interested in archery at local parks. Treants said they provide lessons Tuesday nights starting in the spring.

The CCSO hosted its 20th shopping event with Carson City School District students Wednesday at the Carson City Walmart at 3200 Market St.

Treants praised Sheriff Ken Furlong and his support of children in the community through HWAH.

“We’d like to thank all the people who came out and helped,” he said.
