The Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies, for the first time, will be allowed to grow facial hair as part of a three-month long fundraising event benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Carson City.

Deputies across the department participate by growing facial hair, a practice typically prohibited under department policy.

This exception is part of the department’s commitment to engaging with the community in creative ways while supporting local youth programs.

Deputies will donate $75 for the three-month long event. Both the deputies' association and supervisors' association will match the donations collected.

The initiative will culminate in a “Shave off Celebration,” where children from the Boys & Girls Club will have the honor of shaving the deputy's facial hair that was grown.
