The Oasis Academy basketball teams wrapped up the early portion of their 2A North schedule against Sierra Lutheran and Pershing County in Fallon last week.
The girls defeated Sierra Lutheran, 28-26, last Monday at the city-county gym before falling to Pershing County, 48-45, on Wednesday.
In the two-point win over the Falcons, a 13-point first quarter set the tone as junior Grace Laca led the team with 10 points, including a trey, five rebounds, four steals and two assists. Taylynn Maynez added seven points and two steals and an assist. Sophomore Reese Laca scored six points.
Sophomore Kaylee Craig posted five rebounds, two assists and two steals, and sophomore Emma Lewis, Maynez and Laca each had three boards.
Individual statistics were not available for the Pershing County game.
BOYS BASKETBALL
For the boys, Oasis Academy fell to Sierra Lutheran, 51-40, on Monday and Pershing County, 60-20, on Wednesday.
The Oasis Academy boys team reversed a low-scoring first quarter (14-5) to take a one-point lead, 29-28, at halftime against Sierra Lutheran. The Bighorns, though, lost the lead in the third quarter when the Falcons took a 42-41 lead. Sierra Lutheran outscored Oasis Academy, 19-9, in the final frame.
Oasis Academy returns to the court on Jan. 8 when it takes on enCompass Academy in Reno.
