Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Christmas season and as we look ahead, we wish you all a blessed and prosperous start to the new year with new opportunities, growth, and much happiness in the year to come.
May it be a time of peace, success, and fulfillment for all. Here at the theatre, we’re welcoming 2025 with a couple of legendary nostalgic adventures.
On Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m., and in honor of the new film adaptation of Wicked, we’ll be showing the original 1939 musical, “The Wizard of Oz,” starring Judy Garland. Young Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto are swept away by a tornado from their Kansas farm to the magical Land of Oz and embark on a quest with three new friends to see the Wizard, who can return her to her home and fulfill the others' wishes.
This movie is rated G.
At 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, we have the 2005 Joss Whedon space western adventure, “Serenity,” rated PG-13. This film is a sequel to the much-acclaimed but short-lived TV series, Firefly, from 2002.
The franchise is set in the year 2517 and follows the adventures of the renegade crew of Serenity, a “Firefly-class” spaceship, as they try to evade an assassin sent to recapture the telepath, River Tam. The Firefly series is often humorously said to create a lifetime of withdrawal as its one brief, 14-episode season and single film leave fans yearning for more stories from the universe.
This movie is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025.
Coming up next weekend we’ll have Sweet Decay on stage. The Reno-based dark folk duo will be performing Friday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. with a $10 admission. Their music combines gothic country with a touch of spice, and we can't wait to welcome them to Fallon.
