The first public State of the City address was coordinated by the Carson City Chamber on Feb. 10, 2012, when then Mayor Robert Crowell declared the city “in good hands” at his first formal State of the City address.
The Chamber has continued to coordinate the annual event since then and this year, Mayor Lori Bagwell will present her third State of the City address since taking office in January 2021. Her chosen theme is “Celebrating Success.”
The event is sponsored by Southwest Gas and will take place during a luncheon meeting at the Gold Dust West in Carson City beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 22, coincidently the birthdate of George Washington. In honor of his birthday, Bagwell will be interspersing quotes attributed to the first president throughout her remarks.
The public is invited to attend. With only 112 seats available, the event will sell out early. The cost is $35 per person. Reservations may be made online at https://carsoncitychamber.com/spotlight/details/2024_state_of_the_city_address or by calling the Chamber at 775-882-1565. No walk-ins will be accepted.
The event will be videotaped for mass viewing on YouTube following the event.
