Eric Blakey has released a statement announcing his candidacy for Churchill County Commission, District 3.

“I have been a citizen of Churchill County since 1996 and have engaged with the community along the way through many different avenues:

• Past member of the Churchill County Youth Softball Association, serving as a board

member and president for many years

• Retired member of the Fallon-Churchill Fire Department with 20 years of service,

during my career I held the positions of firefighter, captain and assistant chief

• Current chairman of the Churchill County Planning Commission, serving six plus years

• Current member of the Churchill County Federal Credit Union Board of Directors

“Churchill County is changing at a fast pace and now is the time for our community to have the right leadership to help our citizens navigate through these times together for the best outcome for all, while preserving our heritage, agriculture needs, protecting our water resources, and managing growth in housing — both traditional and affordable — as it comes our way.

“These are just few of my ideals that need great representation. I believe I’m a strong, viable candidate to balance both economic and physical growth of Churchill County as we move forward into the future, I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail.”

Official filing for local and statewide offices is March 4-14. Two candidates nights co-sponsored by the Fallon Post, Lahontan Valley News and Churchill County Republicans will be held in May and October prior to early voting. Candidates seeking local offices, school board, Assembly District 38 and the Board of Regents District 9 will be invited to attend.
