Portions of Mills Park closed this week

The southern access to Mills Park from Mills Lane, Oxoby Loop and amenities including the pickleball courts will be closed Feb. 12-16 for tree maintenance of the large cottonwood trees, Carson City said in a news release.

“During the closure, a contractor will be performing canopy thinning and corrective pruning of the cottonwood trees,” reads the release. “The contractor will also be removing a couple of trees that pose safety concerns. Please avoid the area and take this opportunity to visit other parks throughout the city.

“For the safety of the contractor, pets and the public, portions of Mills Park must remain closed for the duration of the work, as there will be equipment on site needed for this project.”

Mills Park is anticipated to be fully reopened for use on Feb. 17, the city said.
