A bomb squad was called to Interstate 80 east of Reno on Monday, leading to the closure of the eastbound lanes and the arrest of one man, according to a news release from the Nevada State Police.
Monday at 9:14 a.m., Highway Patrol troopers conducted a traffic stop on a recreational vehicle on I-80 near mile marker 43 in Washoe County. The investigation led to the discovery of illegal firearms and devices with the potential for danger aboard the vehicle, the release said.
Troopers requested assistance from the Consolidated Bomb Squad. This unit, composed of specialists from multiple law enforcement agencies, was instrumental in securing the area and neutralizing the possible threat posed by the suspicious devices.
The driver of the RV, Kirkland Orlando Rowe, was taken into custody and is being held at the Washoe County Detention Center. Rowe faces charges related to the possession of illegal firearms among other offenses, the release said. No other information about Rowe was included in the release.
