We start out 2024 with a new film, a cult classic, and our movies are still free.
Playing this weekend, Friday, Jan. 5, and Saturday, Jan. 6, at 6 p.m. each evening is the 2023 animated action comedy “Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.”
Sweet and awkward 16-year-old Ruby Gillman is desperate to fit in at school, but she mostly just feels invisible. She's prevented from hanging out with the cool kids at the beach because her over-protective mom forbids her from getting in the water. When she breaks her mom's rule, Ruby discovers that she is a descendant of the warrior Kraken queens and is destined to inherit the throne from her grandmother.
The Kraken are sworn to protect the world's oceans against vain, power-hungry mermaids.
Voices provided by Annie Murphy, Lana Condor, Liza Koshy and Jane Fonda.
Our second feature both evenings, starting at 7 p.m. is the 1981 fantasy adventure “Clash of the Titans.” Perseus, son of the Greek god Zeus, grows up on a deserted island. His destiny is to marry Princess Andromeda, who will someday rule the city of Joppa.
But as long as the satyr Calibos — who uses a giant vulture to kidnap Andromeda's soul every night — is alive, no one can marry her. Perseus travels to Joppa, where he must defeat Calibos and other mythological monsters to rescue Andromeda.
Starring Harry Hamlin, Laurence Olivier, Ursula Andress, Maggie Smith and Julie Bowker.
Mark your calendar for Saturday, Jan. 13., as we are excited to have The Will Shamberger Band plus a special guest join us for live music on our historic stage.
Concert starts at 7 p.m., and tickets are only $12.
