Carson City accepting applications for justice of the peace

The Carson City Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for the position of justice of the peace/municipal court judge for department 2.

Applications are available at www.carson.org/JOP or from the Executive Offices at 201 N. Carson St., Suite 2. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Jan. 19 and must be submitted online at www.carson.org/JOP or delivered to the Executive Office at the address above.

A justice of the peace for Carson City must:

• Be a qualified elector; and

• Never been removed or retired from any judicial office by the Commission on Judicial Discipline; and

• Have a high school diploma or its equivalent as determined by the State Board of Education; and

• Reside in Carson City.

The appointee will serve until Jan. 5, 2025, unless elected to the office on Nov. 5, 2024, for the following six-year term starting Jan. 6, 2025.

The base pay for the position is $145,000 per year.

All potential candidates will be interviewed by the Board of Supervisors on Feb. 1 at 1:30 p.m. in the Robert Crowell Board Room at the Community Center, 851 E. William St.
