For Christian Lynch, 28, and Andrea Munoz-Munoz, 24, the path to a high school diploma wasn’t traditional.
Unlike K-12 education, adult education is a choice. The Carson City School District and Carson Adult Education is registering students for spring 2024 classes. Classes begin Jan. 22.
“Not everyone is in a place when they are 17 or 18 years old to successfully complete their high school education,” said Bob Chambers, principal of Carson Adult Education. “Sometimes life gets in the way. However, with regards to Christian and Andrea, life didn’t stand in their way forever. They understood the importance of a high school education and the opportunities that it affords them.”
Munoz-Munoz and Lynch chose to attend night classes with Carson Adult Education and completed what they had started when they were teenagers, ultimately graduating from high school and receiving a diploma.
“We wish these two tenacious individuals the best of luck on their next educational journey,” Chambers said. “They will be invited to walk in graduation ceremonies with Carson High School in June to celebrate their accomplishment.”
Students can earn their GED and their high school diploma. Classes are offered online and at night from 6 to 9 p.m. Those interested in continuing their educational journey can call 775-283-1350. The Carson Adult Education office is located at 275 E. Park St. in Carson City.
