The Douglas High School boys basketball team battled tough with the 4A North’s top team Tuesday, but fell to Damonte Ranch 65-54.
The orange and black led 25-23 at halftime, but the Mustangs responded with 42 points in the second half.
Jett Lehmann finished 9-of-15 from the floor and posted 22 points. Lehmann was a rebound shy of a double-double and added three assists and two steals.
Jeremiah Pitts ended the game with 12 points while Reese Torres had eight.
Damonte Ranch remains unbeaten in league play with a 7-0 record.
DOUGLAS GIRLS TAKE DOWN DAMONTE RANCH
For the Tiger girls basketball team, the Mustangs of Damonte Ranch represented another tough test in the top half of the league.
Douglas left Reno with a 47-42 win over the Mustangs, moving to 6-1 in Class 4A North play this winter.
The Tigers led 25-23 at the half and held off Damonte Ranch down the stretch by hitting crucial free throws.
The win was Douglas’ fourth in a row.

CARSON BOYS NEARLY KNOCK OFF MANOGUE
Carson boys basketball hasn’t beaten Bishop Manogue since 2017 and nearly had a chance to do so Tuesday night.
However, the Miners were able to hold strong in the fourth quarter and escape with a 52-43 win.
The Senators led 12-4 after one quarter and 24-17 at the break, but the Miners found their rhythm in the second half.
In the second half, Bishop Manogue outscored Carson 35-19 to close out the nine-point victory.

MINER GIRLS TOO STRONG FOR CARSON
The Carson High girls basketball team couldn’t keep pace with the top team in the Class 4A North as Bishop Manogue rolled to a 61-27 win.
Dahlia Keating once again led the way on the score sheet with 10 points and four rebounds for Carson.
Clarissa Quintana had six points and seven rebounds in the loss while Lauren Finnerty ended the game with five points.
Ashley Waiksnoris swiped three of the team’s 10 steals in the loss.
“It’s a process for us. We maintained our energy and continued to work hard throughout the game,” said interim coach Nate Tolbert. “That’s going to be our mantra … the five kids that fight and give us energy are the ones who are going to play.”
WRESTLING POSTPONEMENTS
Carson and Douglas wrestling had triangular duals postponed Wednesday due to winter weather.
Carson’s home dual against Damonte Ranch and McQueen has been tentatively rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 25.
Meanwhile, Douglas was originally scheduled to travel to Reed for a triangular meet.
However, that meet has been rescheduled to Monday, Jan. 29.
