Douglas High girls wrestling took first place last past weekend at the Spring Creek Invitational.
Ella Kavanagh and Bliss Moody finished their tournaments standing atop the podium.
Starting in the semifinal, Kavanagh pinned her opponent from White Pine in 3:04.
Following her win by fall, the Tiger grappler was able to win the 100/107 pound weight class with another pin in 4:51.
In the 114/120 weight class, Moody never needed more than 1:44 in her three matches, pinning every opponent en route to first place.
In the same weight class, Jasmine Tamondong took third place. After dropping her first match by fall, Tamondong won her final two matches via pins in 1:44 and 1:18.
Monique Alloway went 3-0 through her first three matches with three wins by fall before dropping her final match, resulting in a second place finish in the 126/132 weight class.
Elizabeth Alloway took sixth in the same division.
At 138/145 Mica Klein was third, going 2-2 with both wins by pin.
Kaila Blumenthal was sixth in the same weight class.
Kelsie Doney also found a spot on the podium, finishing third in 152/165 pound weight bracket.
Doney lost in the semifinal by pin, but responded by winning her third place match in 12 seconds.
Douglas boys 10th at Spring Creek
The Tiger boys wrestling team ended its weekend tournament in 10th place out of 28 teams.
Leading the way for the Tigers was Aaron Tekansik, who wrapped up 24 team points with a second place finish at 190 pounds.
The senior won his first three matches without much trouble as two wins came by fall in the first period.
In the first place match, Tekansik fell by 9-2 decision.
At 215 pounds, Sage Adie took fifth place.
Adie won his first two rounds by pin before dropping his next two matches.
However, the senior finished his tournament with a win, pinning his opponent in the fifth place match in 3:35.
Gunnar Bleeker dropped his opening match at 113 pounds, but rallied with three consecutive wins by pin.
In the third place matchup, Bleeker fell by pin in 3:53.
Kolton Zinn won three of his first four matches at 150 pounds, but dropped his final two to take sixth place.
UP NEXT: Douglas wrestling will face Reno and Damonte Ranch in a triangular dual today before hosting the Steve Deaton Memorial Tournament on Saturday.
