This week the spotlight shines on senior Madeline Roberts. Maddie is an outstanding student, a dedicated athlete and just an awesome young woman. Maddie’s academic accomplishments are a testament to her commitment and drive. She will earn her Advanced Placement Capstone diploma, which demands rigorous coursework and the ability to think critically.
Maddie has consistently demonstrated a desire to challenge herself academically. Although she is only required to take four classes this year, she is taking six, including five AP courses. Maddie has also dedicated a significant amount of time to the Carson High School fine arts program, taking several levels of art, including two of the three AP art classes offered.
Maddie has a strong dedication to CHS and the community. She is a member of the CHS girls' golf team, making it to the state tournament this year, and a manager for the boys' golf team. She was recognized as a member of the All-State Academic Team for golf. She also dedicates much of her time to volunteering with her church as a track coach, youth group leader and summer camp counselor.
Maddie has expressed a strong desire to attend a university with an active sports program. Her ideal school will have high attendance at sporting events, especially football games. Growing up in a family with two avid sports fanatics as parents, it has become extremely important to her for it to be a large part of her college experience. She has several schools she is interested in, but her top choices are Clemson University, University of North Carolina, University of Georgia and Virginia Tech, where she plans to study English literature. Carson High School is so proud of Maddie and hopes she finds her perfect fit.
