The Greenwave wrestling team traveled over the hill and brought back some hardware.

Fallon finished second out of 34 schools in last Saturday’s 41st annual Corning Invitational as 11 wrestlers placed, including a trio of champions.

Jaiden McFadden (135 pounds), Carson Melendy (141) and Quentin Hornbeak (168) each won their division while Evan Mackuliak (116), Neil McIntyre (123), Macray O’Neill (153) and Sean Reeder (288) each won the consolation bracket. Lonnie Adams (135), Caden McKnight (147) and Colton Blankenship (168) each finished third in the championship bracket, and Manny Barros (109) finished fourth.

Melendy was also presented with the Outstanding Wrestler Award.

Happening concurrently in Minden, Tommie Fitzer and Keliah Brady both placed fourth in the girls bracket of the Douglas Tournament. Wyatt Lambert won the 144-pound bracket of the JV division while Dustin Stritenberger finished fourth.

Fallon travels to the Bay Area this weekend for the 14th-annual Colt Invitational while the JV wrestlers will compete in the Vaquero Classic in Fernley to wrap up the tournament season. The Greenwave will host the Northern 3A duals on Feb. 2-3 to determine seeding for the regional tournament, which is in Spring Creek in three weeks.
