Carson girls grab second league win

Thursday evening, Carson High School girls basketball picked up its second league win of the season, downing Reno, 41-34.

Lauren Finnerty ended the game with a triple-double, scoring 19 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and forcing 13 steals.

Emjae Salanoa added six points in the Senators’ win while Dahlia Keating contributed five of her own.

Saturday afternoon, the Senators fell on their home floor, 59-40, to Damonte Ranch.

The Mustangs are fourth in the Class 4A North with an 8-4 league record.

UP NEXT: Tuesday evening, Carson (7-14, 2-10) traveled to Reed (2-14, 2-11) before playing at Galena (4-18, 3-9) on Friday night.


CARSON BOYS DOWNED BY RENO, DAMONTE RANCH

The Senator boys basketball team is still looking for a first league win after dropping two contests over the last few days to Reno (60-42) and Damonte Ranch (70-30).

UP NEXT: Carson will be on the road for both games this week at Reed (13-10, 7-6) on Tuesday and at Galena (11-11, 3-9) on Friday.


DAYTON LOSES AT FERNLEY

Dayton basketball had a tough task on its hands over the weekend at Fernley where the boys fell, 62-18.

On the girls side, the Vaqueros conquered the Dust Devils, 54-9.

UP NEXT: Both squads will be back in action Friday at Spring Creek.


YERINGTON TOO MUCH FOR SIERRA LUTHERAN HOOPS

Sierra Lutheran traveled to Yerington over the weekend for another matchup of Class 2A North teams.

On the girls side, Yerington won 54-30.

The Falcon boys fell by a final of 72-31.

UP NEXT: Both teams are back at home Friday against West Wendover.
