Council approves business licenses, discusses budget

The Fallon City Council took care of business including approving licenses, local primary election results and the city budget during several meetings in June.

At a regular meeting June 18, the council approved Hailey and Freddie Perez for a mobile food vendor license for FreddieRonos Little Stacks Mini Pancakes. The business serves mini pancakes as desserts with a variety of toppings, as well as ice cream waffle cone tacos and homemade crema.

Jennifer Sobers/Sobers Family LLC was approved for a mobile food vendor license for Kona Ice of South Reno shaved ice.

Michael Porras was approved for a drinking establishment liquor license for Street Golf, currently under construction at 203 S. Maine St.

Nancy Lopez was approved for a mobile liquor license for Suavecitos Mobile Bar & Events, a mobile bar and beverage service.

Chief of Police Ron Wenger also read a summary of the April 2024 police department report.


OTHER MEETINGS

At a special meeting June 20 the council approved the canvass of returns from the June 11 local primary election. Council members congratulated Mayor Ken Tedford on his re-election.

During a June 27 special meeting the council approved city budget transfers of appropriations, augmentations and interfund loans as presented by City Clerk Sean Richardson and Deputy Clerk Mike O’Neill.

A transfer of appropriations was approved between the city’s general fund and the Fallon Convention Center and Convention Tourism funds for fiscal year 2024.

The council approved a resolution to augment the fiscal year 2024 general fund budget by $4.4 million, the Convention and Tourism Authority Fund by $150,000 and the Mayor’s Youth Fund by $15,000.

A combined $1 million was approved for two temporary interfund loans from the Landfill Enterprise Fund split between $600,000 for the Water Enterprise Fund and $400,000 for the Sewer Enterprise Fund.

The council also approved a resolution augmenting the fiscal year 2023-24 budget of the Electric Enterprise Fund by $1.1 million, the Water Enterprise Fund by $175,000, the Sewer Enterprise Fund by $325,000, the Sanitation Enterprise Fund by $490,000, the Landfill Enterprise Fund by $374,000, the Data Processing Internal Service Fund by $25,000 and the Public Works Internal Service Fund by $243,000.
