Rear Adm. Doug Verissimo, commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic (AIRLANT), and Force Master Chief Jimmy Hailey visited June 18 with sailors assigned to Naval Aviation Warfare Development Center at Naval Air Station Fallon.

Verissimo and Hailey engaged with naval aviators and sailors about their academic curriculum and their experiences in naval aviation. Many of the service members will report to Carrier Air Wing 1 as part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group.

NAWDC provides service to aircrews, squadrons and air wings throughout the Navy through flight training, academic instructional classes, and direct operational and intelligence support. The command consists of more than 120 officers, 140 enlisted, 50 civilians, and 250 contract personnel.

NAWDC flies and maintains FA-18C/D Hornets, FA-18E/F Super Hornets, EA-18G Growlers, F-16 Fighting Falcons and MH-60S/R Seahawk helicopters.
