County Commissioners recognize employees' service milestones

Churchill County commissioners presented second-quarter employee service awards during their June 20 regular meeting.

The eight employees were honored for their combined 95 years of service to the community.

Noel Ugalde (sheriff’s office), Lana Chenoweth (parks and recreation) and Raeghan Tucker (assessor’s office) received recognition for five years of employment. Willow Timbrel (assessor’s office) and Darryl Vierra (facilities and grounds) received recognition for 10 years of employment.

Charlene Nelson (district attorney’s office) received recognition for 15 years of employment, Julie Guerrero-Goetsch (county manager’s office) received recognition for 20 years of employment, and Darin Hammer (juvenile probation) received recognition for 25 years of employment.

Commissioners also discussed and/or took action on the following agenda items:

Approved a proposal renewal from Nevada Public Agency Insurance Pool and payment for the proposal from fiscal year 2024-25 funds.

Approved the review of the RO92-17A Marijuana Tax Revenue and Opioid Settlement Funding for fiscal year 2025.

Awarded $951,200, with an additional $100,000 contingency fund, to Simerson Construction, LLC for a remodel of the Churchill County Sheriff’s storages.

Renewed a professional services contract with Sevon Consulting, LLC to act as appointed counsel program coordinator in support of the county’s Indigent Defense Services program.

Accepted the canvass results of the Churchill County June 11 official primary election.

Approved the 2023-24 fiscal year end monetary transfers, automatic grant budget augmentation, budget transfer and general budget augmentation as presented by County Comptroller Sherry Wideman.

Approved a settlement with Kroger for opioid related claims pursuant to the “One Nevada” agreement.

Approved the revised job descriptions and pay grades for the county building official, senior legal secretary, human resources manager and Human Resource Generalist positions and approved the pay tables for the new fiscal year as presented by Assistant County Manager Chris Spross.

Adopted a resolution and an agreement to authorize an interfund loan of up to $1 million from the county’s general fund to the Central Nevada Health District fund.
