Carson man arrested on suspicion of shooting apartment, damaging cars

A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Thursday and charged with destruction of property, battery with a deadly weapon and multiple other crimes after allegedly smashing car windows in a College Parkway neighborhood and shooting into an apartment building that had children inside, according to an arrest report from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.

Aldean Ray Street Jr. was arrested and booked into Carson City Jail on 14 counts of destruction of property and 14 counts of tampering with a vehicle (gross misdemeanors), along with several felonies including battery with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, attempted sexual assault of someone under 13 years of age, discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling and child abuse. Bail amount totaled $185,137.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to 20 College Parkway around 2:44 a.m. after reports of shots fired. A K-9 helped officers detain three males in the area. Two were eventually released, and one was later identified as Street, according to the report.

Witnesses described being awakened by loud noises and discovering a man throwing rocks through car windows and yelling and cussing. Another witness reported bullets had been fired into their apartment.

According to the arrest report, a family member was able to get a gun away from the suspect, which officers later secured and booked into evidence. Officer also conducted a preliminary breath test that showed the suspect with a blood alcohol content of .185.
