County commissioners discussed and/or took action on the following agenda items:

● Approved $4,000 in funding to support the services of Domestic Violence Intervention of Fallon.

● Heard an update on the “Carson River Watershed 30-Year Regional Drought and Water Sustainability” study from Ed James, general manager of the Carson Water Subconservancy District.

● Approved Denver Nygren’s request to place a conservation easement on 80 acres at 6725 Stillwater Road, including 65 acres of property with water rights.

● Approved the 2024 update to the “Churchill County Housing Needs Assessment and Labor Market Study for the Churchill County Employment Region” as presented by Eugenia Larmore of EKAY Economic Consultants, Inc.

● Approved the renewal of an interlocal contract for three years with the Carson Water Subconservancy District for continuation of the “Lahontan Valley Water Level Measurement” program.

● Approved the adoption of a resolution certifying Churchill County's tax rate for fiscal year 2024-25 as presented during the county’s final budget process.

● Approved the adoption of a resolution assigning a total of two cents of the ad valorem tax levy for Cooperative Extension for fiscal year 2024-25.

Comptroller Sherry Wideman said the county was already giving Cooperative Extension 1.5 cents and this resolution addresses the .5 cent increase approved during the county’s recent budget process.

County Manager Jim Barbee said the increase was intended to allow for the hiring of three additional positions at Cooperative Extension currently in progress.
