Carson City to see relief from excessive heat warning Saturday

The prolonged excessive heat warning is finally expected to break as of 9 a.m. Saturday morning, although Carson City will not see a drop into the double digits until Sunday.

The National Weather Service shows Carson will reach a high of 100 degrees Saturday with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly after 2 p.m. Conditions will be partly sunny and hot.

Chances for thunderstorms increase to 50 percent Sunday as temperatures cool to 92 degrees.

Monday will be partly cloudy with a high of 93, and skies begin clearing Tuesday.

In Fallon, temperatures remain hot on Saturday with a high of 104 degrees and there will be a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, which remain through Sunday until after 11 a.m. The high for Sunday will be near 97.

For the rest of the week, the NWS reports 97 Monday; 97 Tuesday; 98 Wednesday; and 97 Thursday.
