Metcalf Builders breaks ground on north Carson hotel

Metcalf Builders, an award-winning construction company headquartered in Northern Nevada, broke ground this month on Home2 Suites by Hilton located at 3941 N. Carson Street.

Home2 Suites by Hilton has more than 600 locations nationwide, according to a press release from Metcalf.

“The new location in Carson City will be the third Home2 Suites location in Northern Nevada, with one located in Reno and the other in Elko,” the company said. “The 57,000-square-foot, four-story hotel will have a wood framed design, an exterior of stucco and stone and 91 suites. The design will also include a structural steel porte-cochere and a variety of amenities, including an indoor pool.”

The project, valued at more than $19 million, is expected to span over the next year, with an estimated completion date set for fall 2025, according to the company.

During a Carson City Planning Commission hearing in December for a special use permit for the hotel, applicant Jaswinder Dhami, whose family built the nearby Holiday Inn Express, described the project as a high-end extended stay hotel with full kitchens. At the time, Dhami said demand for such hotels was growing.
