Carson City Health and Human Services plans to perform mosquito abatement treatments in the areas of Anderson/Buzzy Ranch, Riverview Park, Linear Ditch, and ponds east of I-580 on Thursday, July 18.

“This will involve utilizing a helicopter for aerial treatments of standing water areas. These treatments are part of an ongoing effort to control the mosquito population and reduce the risk of mosquito-borne diseases,” city officials said in a news release.

In addition to the aerial treatments, CCHHS recommends that residents take preventive measures to protect themselves from mosquito bites. This includes using a quality insect repellent, eliminating standing water around your home, and ensuring that window and door screens are intact to keep mosquitoes out of homes.
