Representatives from the Southwest Gas Foundation made a $10,000 donation to the Carson City Schools Foundation at the June 25 Carson City School Board meeting. The money was given to support the Jump Start College Program at Carson High School.

In a joint venture with Western Nevada College, the Jump Start program allows students to complete their senior and junior years of high school simultaneously during their freshman and sophomore years of college. Students in the program typically earn their college associate degree, often prior to receiving their high school diploma.

The Carson City Schools Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting community involvement and investment in Carson City public schools. This project is one of the many results of the “Empower Carson City 2027″ Strategic Plan, a five-year strategic plan for extraordinary schools built by the community of Carson City.
