Law enforcement, juvenile services officials and victim advocates will be meeting for an educational panel, “Bringing Awareness to Sex Trafficking in our Surrounding Areas,” on July 30.
Open to the public, the event is 6 to 8 p.m. in the Carson City School District board room, 1402 W. King St.
Carson City Juvenile Services will be partnering with Washoe County’s HEAT team (Regional Human Trafficking and Exploitation Unit), Carson City Sheriff's Office, SARA (Sexual Assault Response Advocates) with the Advocates to End Domestic Violence, and Xquisite.
“This event is important to bringing education and awareness to the community on a hard topic that some or most don’t know is even happening in our backyard,” said Carson City Juvenile Services Outreach Specialist Michelle Entz.
Entz said community members should attend to hear from a panel of experts in the field, “who are seeing these evils being unfolded in our cities, and what they are doing to stop it.”
“These conversations from the experts and the community will bring us one step closer to stopping human and sex trafficking all together,” Entz said.
