BEFORE THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF NEVADA
AMENDED NOTICE OF ELECTRIC UTILITIES’ JOINT
INTEGRATED RESOURCE PLAN
On May 31, 2024, Nevada Power Company d/b/a NV Energy (“Nevada Power”) and Sierra Pacific Power Company d/b/a NV Energy (“Sierra”) (collectively, “NV Energy”) filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (“Commission”) a joint application, designated as Docket No. 24-05041 (“Joint Application”), for approval of its 2025-2044 Triennial Integrated Resource Plan (“IRP”) and 2025-2027 Energy Supply Plan (“ESP”).
On July 5, 2024, NV Energy filed with the Commission an amendment for its 2025¬2027 ESP (“ESP Amendment”) to include supplemental courtesy load forecast workpapers.

NV Energy states that the Joint Application demonstrates how it intends to address the State’s clean energy goals and policies and meet the energy demands of its customers by balancing cost, reliability, and decarbonization goals. NV Energy proposes a demand-side management plan to create foundational strategies to enable flexible load and deploy cost-effective Non-Wires Alternatives to support the needs of the grid and energy needs of the State of Nevada. NV Energy specifically seeks approval to: (1) add three power purchase agreements for solar-generating resources totaling more than 1,000-megawatts (“MW”), each with co-located battery energy storage systems; (2) purchase, install, and operate two company-owned hydrogen-capable natural gas simple cycle combustion turbines; and (3) construct transmission infrastructure necessitated by the new resources and to support growing customer demand.
Interested and affected persons may file comments or petitions for leave to intervene, related to the ESP Amendment, pursuant to NAC 703.578 through 703.600 on or before WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7, 2024.
