Dear readers, the 17th annual Bark in the Park 5K walk/run will take place on Saturday, June 8 from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Registration for the 5k is from 7:15 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. (promptly) at the Churchill County Fairgrounds. The walk/run begins at 8:00 a.m.

The registration fee is $30 per person if you pre-register online by June 1 and $40 on the day of the event. You can download the registration form by going to www.capsnevada.org to pre-register. Dogs walk for free but must be on a leash. T-shirts and goodie bags are available to the first 120 to register. The top three female and male runners will receive gift cards. There is no entry fee for the festival and vendor booths.

We are still accepting vendors for Bark in the Park and you can download the application at www.capsnevada.org. Booths that are selling cost $35, non-selling/informational booths are free.

This is not just a fund-raiser it is also a fun raiser because the entire day is devoted to our BFFs. In fact it is the best dog gone event in Fallon for dogs and people. We have over 30 vendor booths that will feature crafts, food, and information. Along with our booths, we have pet photos, bounce houses, games, raffles, and much more.

This is a chance for all the dog lovers who come with their BFFs to meet old friends, make new friends and enjoy walking together. The hot dog eating contest always brings laughter because the littlest dog seems to be the fastest eater. Who will be the star this year?

Bark in the Park is our biggest fund-raiser. All of the money we receive from this will go toward our impending veterinary bills and shelter upkeep. We have had a bundle of puppies needing shots and spay/neutering. The increase in veterinary services has depleted our funds. Your involvement in this joyous festival will help us to continue to meet our goals.

CAPS will always have a special place in my heart because our dearly departed Watson was a CAPS graduate. The love and attention shown each animal in CAPS care is phenomenal. This is your chance to come out and support our no-kill shelter. I hope to see you there.

ATTENTION

Reno Aces Dog Days at Northern Nevada Field on June 16. Attendees will receive a complimentary hat if you buy tickets at the CAPS website: www.capsnevada.com.
