A 67-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of possession of child pornography Friday.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office along with the Northern Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant at the home of Darrell Wayne Thomas, according to a press release.

The arrest follows an investigation initiated in March, when the ICAC Task Force received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Detectives determined that child sexual abuse materials (CSAM) were being downloaded at a Carson City residence. Detectives executed a search warrant and seized several items.

Thomas is being held at the Carson City Jail on $50,000 bail.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is a part of the region’s fight against child exploitation by dedicating a Detective to the ICAC Task Force. These cybercrimes are investigated closely with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Sparks Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Nevada Attorney General’s Office, and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
