Kicking off our weekend at The Fallon Theatre we have “The Land Before Time” at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. This 1988 animated film tells of the daring adventures of an orphaned brontosaurus named Littlefoot who sets off in search of the legendary Great Valley, a land of lush vegetation where the dinosaurs can thrive and live in peace. Along the way he meets four other young dinosaurs, each one a different species, and they encounter several obstacles and the evil predator Sharptooth as they learn to work together in order to survive.

This movie is rated G and has a runtime of 1 hour and 9 minutes.

Our second film continues Peter Jackson’s Hobbit Trilogy with “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” showing both Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.

After successfully crossing over (and under) the Misty Mountains, Thorin and Company must seek aid from a powerful stranger before taking on the dangers of Mirkwood Forest -- without their Wizard. The party must complete the journey to Lonely Mountain and burglar Baggins must seek out the Secret Door that will give them access to the hoard of the dragon Smaug.

The film is rated PG-13 for extended sequences of intense fantasy action, violence, and frightening images. The runtime is 2 hours and 41 minutes.

The Hobbit Trilogy continues into next weekend, June 21 and 22, with The Battle of the Five Armies at 7 p.m. along with “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” at 6 p.m.

We’re hosting a special event on June 12 at 6 p.m. — a Super Smash Bros Ultimate Video Game Tournament. The cost is $3 to compete and free to watch with a $20 prize pool bonus. The coordinators are asking participants to bring their own controller and a Switch, monitor, or TV if possible. Questions can be directed to Ben Jamieson at bobdapirate227@gmail.com.

Looking even further into the calendar, on Wednesday, June 26, The De Golyer Bucking Horse and Bull Bash is sponsoring a special event movie at 7 p.m. “The Cowboy Way” (1994), starring Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland. The movie is rated PG-13 for violence, some language, and comic sensuality and the runtime is 1 hour and 42 minutes.

In July we’ll be hosting Acid Box, a Fallon-local band that blends hard rock, heavy metal, and punk with a blues influence. They’ll be joined by additional local talent, Anabelle and the Desert Scrubs. Check them out on July 20 at 7 p.m. The cover charge is $10.
