Final results from the Carson City Clerk Recorder’s Office Tuesday showed Carson City School Board District 7 candidates Michelle Pedersen and John Henley would go to the general ballot in November.

Of the total 10,255 votes cast, Pedersen did not garner enough votes with a total of 5,007, or 48.8%, necessary to make 50% plus one to win the seat in the primary. Henley earned 2,716, or 26.4%, of votes cast while Joy Trushenski came in with 2,532, or 24.6%.

Pedersen released a statement on social media last week thanking supporters at the polls.

“For 20 years I have served tirelessly in leadership positions within many youth organizations,” Pedersen posted. “I don’t want to say it’s a thankless work, because I know it’s impactful and that I’m making a difference and my heart is content, but happy people don’t get loud… The grumpies do. … Thank you for showing up for me the way you all have.”
