Centennial Park lower fields open for Carson City July 4 fireworks

Having moved the Fourth of July fireworks show in Carson City from near Mills Parks to Eagle Valley Golf Course this year, the nonprofit that organizes the event, Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), has provided information on where people can go in Centennial Park to watch the celebration.

The fireworks show starts at 9:30 p.m. on July 4, and Centennial Park Drive and the lower fields of the park will open to the public at 7 p.m. There will be no parking along areas of Centennial Park Drive, but much of Heritage Way will be open for parking and public viewing. RSVP provided a map showing what is open and not (the upper fields closed, for example) as well as answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the event.

• Do tickets need to be purchased to view the Fourth of July firework show?

• What items are prohibited from Centennial Fields?

There is no camping, glass bottles, pets, open flames, or metal detecting allowed.

Nevada Rural Counties RSVP Program, Inc.


• Why would the Fourth of July firework show be cancelled?

The Fire Department will make the call on cancelling the fireworks due to unsafe weather conditions, wind primarily.

• Where is the best place to view the firework show?

The lower fields at Centennial for public parking and viewing.


• Are restrooms available for public use?

Portable restrooms and handwash stations will be located at the lower fields, tennis courts and upper fields parking lot.


• Can we sit on the Golf Course to view the fireworks?

No, the public does not have access to the golf course. The grass area of Lower Fields will be open for the public.


• Is there parking at Centennial Fields?

Upper Centennial fields will be closed (see map); however, the parking lot will be available for public viewing of the fireworks. Parking will also be available in the dirt areas around the lower softball and soccer fields. The lower fields will be open for the public.


• Will there be food/snacks for sale?

No.


• What time are we able to begin parking at Centennial Fields?

Access road to Centennial parking lot and lower fields will open at 7 p.m.


• Am I able to bring my RV/Trailer?

RV/Trailers will not be allowed in the parking/viewing areas.


• What time will the firework show begin?

• Is Centennial Fields wheelchair accessible?

There are some handicap parking spaces in the tennis court and upper fields areas. There are no designated handicapped parking spots at the lower fields.
