UPDATE: Silver Springs shooting suspect's truck found

UPDATE, Saturday, 2 p.m.

Stephen Shytle’s truck was found Saturday but the suspect in Wednesday’s shooting in Silver Springs remains at large, according to a LCSO news release.

Saturday morning, Nevada Division of State Parks rangers located Shytle’s white Dodge truck at Lake Lahontan. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded and, after a search, it was determined Shytle was not in the area, the release said. The truck was seized by investigators.

Shytle should be considered armed and dangerous and the public is urged not to attempt contact with him. If Shytle is located, contact law enforcement immediately.

One victim was treated and released from the hospital Wednesday. The other victim remains hospitalized with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect in Wednesday’s shooting in Silver Springs, according to a news release.

Stephen Thomas Shytle, 53, of Silver Springs has been positively identified as the suspect, LCSO said. Shytle’s whereabouts are unknown.

Shytle is believed to be driving a white 2001 Dodge Ram extended cab truck with Nevada license plate 119Y67. The truck also has a lumber rack attached to the bed.

At 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds was found at Lahontan State Park Ranger Station at Lake Lahontan.

LCSO said that they learned the shooting took place at a residence in the 3900 block of Birch Street in Silver Springs.

At the residence, deputies found a second adult male suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a press release.

Both males were transported via CareFlight for further treatment.
