Senior Chief Petty Officer Jessica Myers, a native of Carson City, serves at Navy Talent Acquisition Group Southwest.
Myers graduated from Carson High School in 2007. Myers earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Maryland in 2015.
“Growing up, I had to be independent at a young age,” said Myers. “I had to fend for myself and for my siblings. That and working at a young age, showed me how hard it could be in the civilian sector. I played volleyball and softball growing up and that taught me the importance of teamwork.”
Myers joined the Navy 16 years ago. Today, Myers serves as a Navy career recruiter.
“I joined the Navy because I wanted to better myself,” said Myers. “Growing up, my family dynamics weren’t the best and I was looking for something to do. My great-uncle was in the Navy and somehow became a billionaire after he got out. I wanted to be like him, the kind of person he was, and he mentioned joining the Navy.”
Myers has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.
“I’ve had a lot of proud moments,” said Myers. “I think I’m the most proud that I’ve built a lot of relationships with people who are long-lasting friends. Between that, meeting my husband in the military and having three beautiful kids, I’m proud of so much. The relationships and mentorships I’ve had along the way helped me make chief and senior chief.”
Myers serves a Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation’s prosperity and security.
“The Navy as a whole, as an organization, has provided on all spectrums for myself and also for the family that I’ve brought into the world,” said Myers. “My service has developed me into a better person, better mother and better mentor.”
Myers is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.
“I want to thank my husband, Michael Myers,” said Myers. “For being the rock of our family. He’s a great dad, husband and friend. He betters himself every day and wants to make our family better every day. I also want to thank my girls for being great kids, well-behaved and doing well in school. (This girl is on fire!)”
