I must call Mike Rodgick (March 23 letter) to account. The Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights was not written to shield us from “government tyranny” as he claims.
Quite the opposite. It was written to shield us from tyrants and rebels who would act to overthrow a legally-constituted government.
It’s concise. It reads, “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Got that Mike? “Necessary to the security of a free state,” not to overthrow our government should the "wrong man" be re-elected.
