The American Association of University Women recently held a luncheon at Lattin Farms, where it honored the AAUW Community Woman of the Year and three scholarship winners.
Kelly Frost is the AAUW Community Woman of the Year. She is a native of Fallon and graduate of University of Nevada, Reno. She taught government 26 years at Churchill County High School.
Frost has been a Fallon City councilwoman for 10 years and Mayor Pro Tem. She serves on the Churchill County Museum board of directors and Western Nevada Development District.
The three AAUW scholarship recipients for 2024 are Thanh Nguyen, Maggie McPherson, and Gracie Cosman. Nguyen will be attending the University of Nevada, Reno to major in information systems.
McPherson will be attending the University of Nevada, Reno, majoring in secondary education. Cosman will major in nursing at the University of Saint Mary.
Each of the recipients demonstrated excellent academic success, strength of character and commitment to community.
