In their final season under the leadership of 23-year head coach Monica Weaver, the Carson High School swim team had a number of athletes make the all-region postseason teams for the Class 5A North.
The Carson High girls 200-yard medley relay team — Brynn Russell, Alexandra Nerska, Alexandra Llamas-Cruz and Larkin Russell — earned second team all-region honors for their regional time of 1:50.87.
Carson’s 200-yard freestyle relay team earned second team notice between Llamas-Cruz, Nerska, Anna Turner and Katarina Klatt.
Another Carson relay team to get first team honors was the Senators’ 400-yard freestyle team of Russell, Russell, Turner and Klatt.
Larkin Russell was a first team all-region choice in the 200-yard individual medley while Brynn Russell earned a second team nod in the same event.
Larkin, a sophomore, also was named to the second team in the 500-yard freestyle.
Klatt picked up first team all-region honors as an individual in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyles.
Llamas-Cruz was a first team selection in the 100-yard butterfly while also picking up a second team selection in the 200-yard freestyle.
Nerska was chosen as a second team selection in the 100-yard breaststroke.
On the boys side, Lief Morway was a first team all-region swimmer in the 200-yard IM while Ewan Kalley picked up a second team all-region honor in the same event.
Morway also was a second team all-region swimmer in the 100-yard butterfly.
Freshman Asa Morway earned second team distinction in the 500-yard freestyle.
The Senator boys 200-yard freestyle relay team of Todd Gosselin, Clayton Whalen, Asa Morway and David Roque-McDuffie put together a 1:35.16 at regionals to make it onto the second team all-region squad.
Carson’s 400-yard freestyle relay team posted a 3:27.40 at regionals to earn a second team spot between Gosselin, Asa Morway, Kalley and Lief Morway.
