The Nevada State Police have identified the man who died from injuries in an April 24 crash in Lyon County.

Rogers Heinrichs Jr., an 84-year-old male from Silver Springs, was transported by Care Flight to an area hospital following the crash but succumbed to injuries on May 7, the NSP said in a news release.

Highway Patrol responded at approximately 11:02 p.m. on April 24 to US 95A at the intersection of US 50.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that a silver 2009 Ford Fusion was traveling northbound on US 95A approaching the roundabout that intersects US 50. The Ford Fusion was traveling too fast for conditions and the front of the vehicle struck the decorative rocks in the center of the roundabout,” according to the release. “The Ford continued across the opposite travel lane of the roundabout and the US 50 west to go US 95A north travel lane, then rotated and came to rest facing south, northeast of the roundabout.”

Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Northern Command West M.I.R.T (Multidisciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team) is investigating the crash.

In 2024 so far, according to preliminary data, the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command West has investigated 10 fatal crashes resulting in 12 fatalities.
