Body of missing woman found in Churchill County

The body of a missing woman was found May 22 in remote Churchill County, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

The woman, Sara Arlene Filiatraut, 25, of Michigan, was reported missing to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office on April 15.

The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the body was that of Filiatraut. The case is being treated as a homicide. Final autopsy results are pending.

Filiatraut was last known to be in Yerington on March 21. LCSO began looking for her after she was reported missing by her family. The investigation took LCSO, the Churchill County Sheriff's Office, and members of Churchill County Search and Rescue to the area her body was found.
