As fall arrives in Carson City, it brings not only beautiful weather but also a timely reminder to prioritize your health.

This season aligns with open enrollment for Medicare, and it is also Diabetes Awareness Month, making it an ideal time to focus on your well-being. That’s why Carson Tahoe Health is excited to invite our community to our first-ever Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

This event represents our commitment to providing preventive health resources and empowering residents to make informed healthcare choices for themselves and their families.

As we navigate the complexities of healthcare, particularly with Medicare and Medicare Advantage (MA) coverage, many community members have expressed uncertainty about their options. With upcoming changes in 2025, now is the perfect time to get informed and ensure you’re making the best decisions for your health.

Traditional Medicare offers comprehensive coverage, but if you're considering an MA plan, opting for a local provider can provide more personalized care and improved access to community resources. At Carson Tahoe Health, we're proud to now offer the Carson Tahoe Health Essential Plan in partnership with Senior Care Plus.

Another local MA plan option is, Prominence Health. Our financial services team will be at the event to assist with scheduling appointments, managing advanced directives, and providing financial counseling and billing support.

This is a valuable opportunity to meet knowledgeable representatives who can guide you through your healthcare choices, ensuring you have the resources and information you need for a healthier future.

In recognition of American Diabetes Month, the education at the Medicare Benefits and Diabetes Health Fair will provide valuable resources for those looking to better manage or understand diabetes.

The event will feature expert local endocrinologists and healthcare professionals leading lectures and discussions on diabetes management and prevention.

Attendees can participate in various health stations covering crucial aspects of diabetes care, from blood glucose monitoring and insulin pump options to foot care, nutrition, physical activity, and mental wellness.

Our goal is for each participant to walk away empowered with new knowledge, tools, and connections to help them navigate their health journey.

This free event, open to the public, will bring together engaging health-centered activities, giveaways, and interactive educational games. Whether you are newly diagnosed, a dedicated advocate in diabetes management, or simply exploring Medicare options, there is something for everyone.

As we come together for this unique dual health fair, we hope to see you on Nov. 9. Our team is ready to answer questions, provide information, and enhance the well-being of our community.

This is a terrific opportunity to understand your options, whether it’s Medicare coverage, diabetes care, or both. For information, call 775-445-8008.
