The Douglas High School girls cross country team finished in fifth place at the Class 5A state meet Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City.
As a team, the Tigers scored 134 points, finishing in third place of the Northern teams (Galena, 72; Carson, 100) represented at state. The Shadow Ridge girls team won the state title with 63 points.
Tiger junior Lucy Nord was the first runner in orange and black to complete the course, taking ninth place as an individual in 19:43.6.
Junior Logan Axtell (29th) and sophomore Amy Van Wagenen (32nd) finished within five seconds of each other, crossing the line in 20:47.6 and 20:52.1, respectively.
Freshman Krystle Dixon posted a time of 21:03 to finish in 39th.
Douglas senior Ayla Nelson was 53rd in 21:57.1 while freshman Taylor Chase took 71st (22:57.6) and sophomore Kira Northcutt was 81st (24:53.9).
In the Class 5A boys state competition, Douglas’ Luke Davis capped his senior season on the podium with a sixth place finish in 16:10.9.
Senior Sage Spencer was the other representative for the Tiger boys team at state, taking 65th in 18:35.1.
