Culinary students at Carson Middle School will soon have some new tools in their kitchen. The program received a $5,000 grant from the Rotary Club of Carson City.
Club members surprised culinary arts teacher Tammy Borremans, who applied for the grant, in her classroom earlier this week. The money will purchase new cookware, oven mitts, storage racks, funnels, rolling pins and pie mats.
The Rotary Club of Carson City awards the annual grant as part of its commitment to supporting and recognizing educational achievement.
The club also funds college scholarships and other educational opportunities for local young people.
