The Carson City Council of the Navy League of the United States will honor all veterans, past and present, at its November meeting.
The speaker for the Special Veteran’s Day celebration will be Glenna Smith, director of Administration for Liberty Dogs. She will provide construction updates of the new campus, which is slated to open in 2026. Liberty Dogs is a new Service Dog Training facility whose goal is to empower Veterans with disabilities to lead more independent and fulfilling lives! The 27-acre campus houses over 220,000 square feet of Veteran and Service Dog accommodations.
This state-of-the-art facility in south Reno will serve veterans with disabilities first from Nevada and then from across the United States. Further, Liberty Service Dogs will be matched at no cost to the veteran.
The Dinner Meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino, 2171 Hwy 50E. The social hour is at 5:30 p.m. followed by a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. The price is $35 per person. The Navy League of the United States was founded in 1902 and is a civilian organization with more than 50,000 members dedicated to educating American citizens and elected officials about the importance of sea power to U.S national security and supporting the men and women of the sea services and their families.
The Carson City Council sponsors and supports Navy and Marine personnel at Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center near Bridgeport, Calif., NAS Fallon, Naval Recruiters in Northern Nevada, as well as, the Carson High Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Command. We also have adopted the USNS Carson City.
