Nevada’s two largest populated counties turned back Republican challenger Sam Brown from upsetting incumbent Jacky Rosen in last week’s general election.
Clark County tilted the scales 505,412 votes for Rosen to 432,232 for Brown, who ran for the U.S. Senate in 2022. Washoe County narrowly cast the majority of votes to Rosen, 120,131 to Brown’s 108,781.
County residents cast 9,713 votes for the Donald Trump-JD Vance Republican ticket to 3,108 votes for Kamala Harris-Tim Walz. Statewide, the Trump-Vance ticket picked up 728,858 votes to 682,966 for Harris-Walz.
The Brown campaign implemented final week visits for the candidate to encourage people to vote for him. Brown also made a stop in Fallon accompanied by Wyoming U.S. Sen. John Barrasso.
Churchill County was one of 15 counties that voted for Brown.
Congressman Mark Amodei, who was seeking re-election to District 2, defeated Greg Kidd, 210,1448 to 135,944. Amodei also won in Churchill County, 8,751 to 3,145.
The two seats on the Mosquito, Vector and Noxious Weed Abatement Board will be represented by David Brown and Marion Jonte. Cynthia McGarrah finished third.
Voters in Churchill County and the city of Fallon elected their officials in June. Justice of the Peace Ben Trotter, Commissioner (District 1), Matt Hyde and Commissioner (District 1) Eric Blakey each garnered 50% or more of the vote.
Only three candidates filed for three openings on the school board. The three candidates were Wendy Bullock, incumbent Kathryn Whitaker and incumbent Gregg Malkovich, 2,675.
Ken Tedford won re-election for Fallon mayor.
