The Carson City Fire Department has announced the end of fire restrictions and the start of open burning.
“Due to decreasing sunlight, increasing fuel moisture levels, and cooler evenings, the Carson City Fire Department will be lifting the fire restrictions effective on Nov. 8, 2024, on privately owned lands within Carson City,” officials said in a news release. “Please continue to practice fire safety measures throughout these fall and winter months.”
CCFD also announced the start of the fall 2024 open burn season, with burning allowed from Nov. 8 through Jan. 1, dependent upon permit status and daily weather conditions.
“To make this a safe endeavor for those involved, the CCFD will require a burn permit,” according to a news release.
Permits can be obtained online at www.carsonfire.org.
“Click on the notice for ‘Open Burn;’ it will take you to a form you need to print and have on your person when burning,” according to CCFD. “Permits will no longer be available in our administrative office on a walk-in basis. The purpose of the open burn period is to provide residents with an opportunity to dispose of accumulated weeds and yard debris.”
